Gamma Iota Sigma - Sigma Chapter Professional Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science Fraternity |
Dear <NAME>:
As you may know, the purpose of Gamma Iota Sigma is to encourage, establish, and enhance the professionalism of students in the Risk Management, Healthcare Risk Management, and Actuarial Science Programs. As a fraternal organization, we also strive to build a sense of community and cohesion among members while improving their career opportunities through increased knowledge of the industry. In addition, we aim to prepare our members to interact comfortably with industry leaders and form contacts that will serve them throughout their career. The Sigma chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma recently won the Edison L. Bowers Award for the 10th consecutive year -- and the 15th time in the past 17 years -- at this year’s 38th Annual International Management Conference hosted at Temple University. As you may recall, the Bowers Award is given to the best overall chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma within the international organization and is the highest award a chapter can receive.
Temple's Risk Management and Insurance and Actuarial Science programs were once again ranked among the top 10 programs in 2009. In order to maintain the level of success we have all worked to reach, it is imperative that we sufficiently seek funds that will enable the program to continue its climb to the No. 1 spot. As you may remember, it is extremely difficult to raise sufficient funds to finance the high costs of our students' professional development through membership dues alone.
We reach out to you today for your help. We are asking you to become a 2009-2010 sponsor of our 21st Annual Resume Book by making a monetary donation to our fund. Your contribution will aid in the publishing and distribution of the resume book throughout the country and offset costs of mock interviews and interview workshops. Therefore, your support is crucial in the continued production of our most valuable recruiting tools. These tools are the first and most important steps in placing our students into the challenging and exciting fields of Risk Management and Actuarial Science. As an experienced industry professional, you are very well aware of the competitive arena in which our students will soon enter and the importance of effective training on both a technical and professional level.
We are asking for a modest donation of $50. However, a donation of any amount is greatly appreciated by everyone in Gamma Iota Sigma. Please keep in mind that any donation you make is fully tax deductible. Also, many employers have a matching donation program. We hope that you will be able to support us and give our current students the opportunity you once had. Even if you are unable to donate, please complete and return our alumni update form (PDF).
If we receive both your donation and your alumni update form by Monday, November 9, 2009, your name, year of graduation and company affiliation will be listed in the sponsor section of the 2009 Actuarial Science Intern Resume Book.
Here’s how to participate:
1. Visit myowlspace.com/makeagift and select “Business and Management,” then “Gamma Iota Sigma” to designate and make your gift online using a credit card.
2. Fill out the alumni update form (PDF) and return it as an e-mail attachment to mmhenry@temple.edu, via fax to 215-204-0579, or by postal mail to the address printed on the form.
If you prefer, you may mail a check (made payable to TEMPLE UNIVERSITY) along with your alumni update form to the address printed on the form. Whether you make your gift online or by check, please notify the Fundraising Team at usamah.rashid@temple.edu if you plan to donate to our resume book. The resume books will be sent to print soon, and we want to ensure you are listed in our sponsor section.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
