Proceeds from the event benefit the Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Fund, which supports student scholarships for study abroad, internship opportunities and independent projects.
The Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Awards is the signature event for the School of Communications and Theater. At
this year's event, five SCT alumni will be inducted in to the Alumni Hall of Fame, and Matt Lauer, co-anchor of NBC News' Today, will receive the Excellence in the Media Award. For details, visit myowlspace.com.

2009 Excellence in the Media Honoree
Matt Lauer has been co-anchor of NBC News’ Today since Jan. 6, 1997. He joined Today in January 1994. Since joining NBC News, Lauer has conducted a number of newsworthy interviews, co-anchored Today from Iraq and the border of North and South Korea and –- for what has become one of the show’s trademark series for nearly 10 years –- broadcast live from remote locations around the world for the “Where in the World is Matt Lauer” annual trip. Philadelphia served as a stepping-stone for Lauer’s media career, which includes a stint with Philadelphia’s NBC10. |
