Dear Friends of Tyler,
We are very proud to announce that Tyler is one of the sponsors of the 2010 Southern Graphics Council Conference. Mark your calendars and join us for the upcoming Mark/Remarque conference, a national Printmaking conference: March 24-27, 2010. It will be a wonderful time to visit our new building and connect with Tyler alumni. Please visit the conference web site, www.sgcphiladelphia.com, for full information.
Here are some Tyler highlights:
Our former dean, Rochelle Toner, will receive the Printmaker Emeritus award, and a retrospective of her work will be on view in the Stella Elkins Tyler Gallery located in the new Tyler building.
The Tyler Printmaking area will host studio demonstrations and panel discussions on Friday, March 26.
Tyler people are involved throughout the conference. Tyler faculty member Gerard Brown will chair a panel. Tyler alumni Jason Scuilla, Tony Rosati and Shelley Thorstensen, and faculty member Wendy Osterweil, will all present printmaking demonstrations. Alumna Leslie Mutchler will
participate in a panel discussion. Shows of group portfolios curated by alumni Ron Abram, Ryan Parker, Andy Kozlowski, Natasha Pestich and Lisa Hamilton will be on view during the conference. Alumna Nancy Citrino has been serving on the conference steering committee.
Also, this year’s conference offers a great opportunity to be a part of Philagrafika’s citywide series of print exhibitions, "The Graphic Unconscious." One of the main exhibitions will be on view in the Temple Gallery during the conference. Tyler faculty members Virgil Marti and Pepon Osorio will have their work featured as part of Philagrafika. More specific information can be found through the Philagrafika link on the conference website.
Dan Dallmann, Eva Wylie and I have been working to make this an informative and inspiring conference. We hope to see you at the conference!
Sincerely,
Hester Stinnett, Professor of Printmaking and Vice Dean
