School of Communications and Theater

Dear theater graduate,

We are pleased to announce the inaugural season of Temple Repertory Theater (TRT) -- a company of artists closely associated with the Department of Theater at Temple University. TRT will engage Philadelphia theatergoers throughout the month of July with exciting, character-driven performances that focus squarely on the actor and the text. By choosing two little-seen, dramatic masterworks in rotating rep -- Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters and William Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure -- we are committing ourselves to new, daring stagings of classic works of drama for modern audiences.

Friends of Temple Theaters may know the sprawling Tomlinson Theater stage well, but this summer the space will be reimagined to facilitate a compelling, dramatic exchange between the actors and the audience. To achieve this, the audience will sit in a disarmingly intimate configuration -- up close and personal with the stage and the actors -- literally thrusting them into the action of the play.

TRT features professional actors who have Broadway, New York, national and regional credits to their name and who currently are working toward their Master of Fine Arts degrees at Temple University. The actors will work with Temple-affiliated directors, designers and theater artists, collaborating as a repertory company.

As an exclusive offer to our Temple family, alumni can see one of these July shows for $15, or both for just $25. To take advantage of this offer, contact Scott Braun at templerep@gmail.com or 215-204-1334. For more information, visit www.temple.edu/theater.

We hope you will consider joining us for this exciting, midsummer theatrical endeavor!
