Who Takes Responsibility for Philadelphia's Future?

Thursday, Sept. 30
12:30-1:30 PM

Some urban historians have dubbed Philadelphia "the private city," referring to its longstanding tendency to address social problems through private action. Carolyn Adams, PhD, Geography and Urban Studies Department, will talk about how many young Philadelphians are committed to moving the city forward by rebuilding neighborhoods, promoting the city's cultural scene, making healthful foods available to all families and pursuing green solutions to energy challenges. Private groups and individuals are increasingly taking responsibility for our city's future. Is this a good thing? Where should we draw the line between private and public responsibility for our city? Join Dr. Adams and other young alumni to discuss these issues.

Refreshments and soft pretzels will be provided.
