Tyler School of Art

Dear Tyler Art History Graduate:

I'm writing to share with you the good news contained in a recent review about our BA program. Simply stated, an undergraduate education in Art History at Tyler/Temple leaves a lasting impression. Nearly 80% of all Temple Art History BAs continue on to graduate work and careers in art history, education and related fields! That's quite an accomplishment!

Our undergraduate students have won placement in nationally competitive internship programs at the Cloisters of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York; the Guggenheim; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art; as well as at the Barnes Foundation; the DeMuth Museum; the Fabric Workshop; the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; and the Rosenbach Library, to mention several. They have had research papers accepted for presentation at the American Philological Association, Mid-Atlantic American Studies Association (paper awarded a prize), and West Virginia University Student Symposium, among others.

Recent graduates of the Art History program have gone on to work at various galleries and museums—two recently found full-time positions at the Philadelphia Museum of Art—or to pursue graduate studies in Art History and other fields at Bryn Mawr; Cornell; Georgetown; Hunter College; Indiana University; the New School; New York University; Pennsylvania State University; Syracuse University; Pratt; University of Edinborough; the University of Pennsylvania; the University of Texas, Austin; University of the Arts; the University of Utrecht; and Williams College. Our students have also won awards and grants from the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Studies, including teaching assistantships through the Diamond Peer Teacher program; travel through the Creative Arts, Research, and Scholarship program; and the Temple University Library prize for outstanding research papers.
