Temple University

Dear Temple alumni,

Temple students recently traveled to Harrisburg for Cherry and White Week in the Capitol. It was an inspiring display, as these students gathered in the rotunda, went door to door to speak with legislators and held rallies and events across the Capitol. Temple's students powerfully demonstrated just how impressive Owls are, and the incredible impact that they and the entire Temple community have every day across the Commonwealth.

Cherry and White Week in the Capitol

As a former Temple student, you too know the power of this university and the men and women who experience it. For generations, Temple has played a vital role in the lives of hundreds of thousands of the hardest-working, highest-achieving citizens of the Commonwealth. You also know that one of Temple's great strengths is its affordability, transforming lives and offering access to world-class education for those who could not otherwise afford it. Our students have always made the most of every opportunity given to them.

But with the proposed cuts to Temple's Commonwealth Appropriation—which will, if enacted, cut Temple's state funds in half over the last two years—those opportunities are at risk.

This spring the Pennsylvania legislature is deliberating on Temple's 2013 appropriation, and their decision will have an immediate effect on current and future generations of Owls. I'm asking all Temple alumni to follow the lead of our students, and stand up for Temple.

• If you have not contacted your legislator through TALON, now is the time to do so. It's fast, easy, effective and gives voice to the more than 39,000 students and 280,000 alumni of this university.

• Please help us spread the word to your friends, neighbors and fellow alumni. Your voice makes a difference for our students and our university. Forward this email to your friends, and please link this message or TALON's website on your Facebook page.

Thank you for all you do for Temple.
