Welcome to the second Stewardship Update! As a result of the positive feedback we received from last month's email, we've expanded the mailing list. For those receiving this email for the first time, expect to receive it on a monthly basis.

Just a friendly reminder that the updated endowment spending reports have been sent out, detailing your unit's endowed funds and the amounts available to spend as of February 29, 2012. If you have any questions about this report or your funds, please contact Rachel Lippoff at 7-2225 or rachel.lippoff@temple.edu.

As always, please feel free to reach out with any ideas or suggestions for future emails.

Happy Stewarding!

Sample Stewardship Projects

Not sure how to utilize Central's newly expanded Stewardship staff in your donor relations efforts? Check out some of the projects that your colleagues have worked on and reach out to me for more information to discuss doing something similar.

• Event Follow-Up

After the School of Pharmacy's successful 4th Annual Research Day, we worked with Chris Van Vessem to develop a follow-up/update letter to Conwell Donors signed by Dean Doukas. The letter included highlights from the event, a student quote and pictures of students with their projects.

Wachman Society donors who indicated that they were unable to attend the Wine Reception and Flower Show event received a typed letter written and signed by one of the students who worked on the Temple exhibit. The letter thanked the donor for their support and included details about the exhibit as well as a photo of the student in front of the exhibit.

• Capital Project Update
We partnered with Gerard McMahon and the team in Athletics to create a letter updating those who have funded the McGonigle-Pearson project. The letter was signed by athletics director, Bill Bradshaw and featured a picture of the building before renovations and a picture of the current progress.

• Staff and Faculty Donor Recognition
We are currently partnering with Val Gay in the College of Education to order special lapel pins for staff and faculty donors. These pins will be sent out the week of graduation with a short note from a graduating senior thanking donors for their contribution. Recipients will be encouraged to wear the pins during graduation week.

• Targeted Mailings with Gift Items
Copies of an Academy Award nominated documentary that was edited by a Temple student were ordered was gifts for donors in the School of Communications and Theater, the Fox School of Business, College of Liberal Arts and the College of Engineering. SCT's donors received their copy with a letter signed either by Ashley Lomery or Dean Jacobson and Maureen Kuhar. Mollie Repetto and Fran Hollingsworth hand-delivered theirs or personally mailed them out.

Dr. Roseyn Hsueh, a Temple professor of political science, was recently featured on WAMC's Academic Minute to discuss her research from her recent book, China's Regulatory State: A New Strategy For Globalization. Copies of this book were sent to a select number donors as gifts. Don Kirkwood in the Fox School of Business sent copies of book accompanied by a handwritten note while Fran Hollingsworth in the College of Libral Arts sent copies of book with a letter that we created.

Don't forget about the donor birthday reports! If you are not currently receiving them, email me at shauna.goodman@temple.edu to be added to the list. Also, new donor welcome letters will begin to be sent this month. Email me to have your unit excluded.
