During his more than 35 years at Temple, Hodge has become used to raising eyebrows with his creative teaching techniques. Then the professor who’s seemingly done it all outdid himself: He produced a dead body.

In perhaps one of the more unusual interdisciplinary collaborations, Hodge and colleague Nicole Saitta contacted Temple theater Professor Marie Chiment – who teaches a course she’s dubbed “DSI: Design Scene Investigation” – to create a dummy to serve as a dead body for a crime scene investigation course at the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI), the continuing education arm of the state Bar Association.
