College of Science and Technology

Dear CST Alumni,

Acting president Richard Englert recently announced my appointment as interim provost at Temple University. This is a critical time for the university, with many challenges and opportunities ahead. In my new role, I look forward to helping Temple meet fiscal challenges, support faculty and improve education for our students.

This is also a pivotal time for the College of Science and Technology. I have invited Michael Klein, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Science and Director of the Institute for Computational Molecular Science, to assume the role of acting dean. Dr. Klein's accomplishments in science, administration and building successful teams of interdisciplinary researchers will serve him well in this new role. I have complete confidence in his abilities to do this important work on behalf of the college. You can learn more about his remarkable career and research at CST's web site.

Since arriving at CST in 2007, I have been impressed with the commitment and passion of the college's alumni. You are the reason the college has moved forward on so many fronts, including increased scholarship support, more internship and job opportunities for students and CST's growing reputation. I appreciate everything alumni have done for the college and our students. You helped make the past five and a half years both remarkably productive and deeply rewarding. With the soon-to-break-ground Science Education and Research Center and other future initiatives, I invite you to stay connected to, and support, the College of Science and Technology.

Very truly yours,

Hai-Lung Dai
