Boyer College of Music and Dance

Dear Boyer College alumni,

As you may have heard, I announced my retirement this year after many years with Temple University.

I feel very privileged to have spent my forty-year career at Temple University in both academic administration and teaching. As a dean of one kind or another for over a quarter of a century, with deans David Stone and Helen Laird as mentors, I was privileged to work with an outstanding faculty who, through a great sense of common purpose, developed music and dance into the highly respected, nationally visible programs they are today.

It has also been my honor to teach and conduct in the choral department on a full-time basis at the Boyer College of Music and Dance. Just imagine—I have worked with Bob Page, Elaine Brown, Alan Harler, Janet Yamron, Rollo Dilworth, Gail Poch, Tram Sparks, and now, Paul Rardin. These are among the most respected university choral conductors in the country and represent over half a century of choral excellence. And what a treat to have worked with students in this storied program who are now leaders in our field themselves throughout the nation. Not bad company!

I never took this opportunity for granted and was grateful every day. I have established an endowment fund for the choral library to give back to Temple University and benefit our extraordinary Choral Department in perpetuity, and, thereby, this great College. Please join me in supporting this exceptional program through a donation to the choral library by visiting www.myowlspace.com/makeagift and give as generously as you can.

Our students and alumni have distinguished themselves in the music world through their talent, diligence and artistry. Their commitment deserves not only my support but also my participation and I hope you will join me in this effort. Plans are currently in process for an early-October choral reunion, and I hope to see you and your fellow alumni there. Together, we support and represent the future of choral music at the Boyer College as well as in the larger community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jeffrey M. Cornelius
Professor of Choral Music
