Temple University Alumni Association

10th reunion

Dear Temple University Alumni,

The tragic events earlier this week in Boston have shined a light on safety and security at public events. We want to assure you that Temple University officials are focused on the safety of the Temple community and our Alumni Weekend events and the Cherry & White football game will continue as planned.

We do want to share with you some information that was communicated to the Temple University community regarding a graffiti message that referenced the events of April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School found on campus. We take all indications of threats very seriously and a thorough investigation has been undertaken by Temple Police working with the Philadelphia Police Department, the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homeland Security unit.

The Temple Police have developed coordinated plans with the City of Philadelphia to ensure the safety of alumni, students and all our visitors this weekend. Security protocol does not allow us to release specifics, but the plan does involve continuous monitoring of intelligence with the Philadelphia Police, the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homeland Security unit and an increase in police presence throughout the weekend. Be assured we will be doing all we can to keep you safe, but, as always at any public gathering if you notice anything suspicious or unusual, the best thing to do is to alert a Temple Police Officer or contact Philadelphia Police by calling 911.

We look forward to seeing you this weekend on campus, there are many fun family events planned and it’s our opportunity to come together to celebrate what makes us Temple Made.

Sincerely,
Institutional Advancement, Alumni Relations
Department of Construction, Facilities and Operations
Temple University
