“We have absolutely no right to disregard another when the other is suffering. If you stand by when someone else is being tortured, you are an accomplice. We suffered and died because of indifference. This is the lesson. Never again.” – Elie Wiesel, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Holocaust Survivor and Global Human Rights Activist

To destroy one life is tantamount to destroying an entire universe. Imagine, then, what it means to kill hundreds of thousands, millions. Long after the Holocaust – the brutal murder of six million innocent men, women and children – the world continues to witness mass atrocity after mass atrocity. We keep saying “never again,” but, tragically, it happens again and again – in Cambodia, in Bosnia and Kosovo, in Rwanda, in Darfur and in the Congo.

You are invited to join Temple Alumna and Holocaust Survivor, Frieda Tabak, CLA ’53, and Hanoch Guy, Professor Emeritus and Holocaust Scholar, for a celebration of triumph over tragedy. It is our moral imperative to respond effectively to crimes against humanity. Understanding is the first step in preserving the legacy of these victims and fulfilling the hope of “never again.”

This event is free of charge.

Over $2.6 Trillion is spent on healthcare in the United States (approximately 18% of the U.S. Economic Output) and the average cost of a family health insurance premium is now over $15,000 per year. Healthcare is not only about health, but increasingly about finance. This session will characterize the key actors in the healthcare system (patients, payers, insurers and providers), the affects that health reform will have on the system, and the key information that individuals should consider when selecting health insurance plans or using health services or products.

Speaker:
Eric L. Keuffel
, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor, Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management, Fox School of Business, Temple University. For his complete bio, click here.
