College of Liberal Arts

Today we all come together to honor and thank the veterans in our lives and communities. At the College of Liberal Arts, we are working hard to support our student veterans every day. During Military Appreciation Month as we recognize and celebrate the sacrifices of these brave men and women, we ask that you join us.

The Dr. Alfred M. Sellers Veterans Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Dr. Alfred Sellers, a decorated Army Veteran of WWII and the Battle of the Bulge whose studies at Temple were disrupted by the war. Dr. Sellers served with a combat engineering unit before becoming a medical corpsman in the Army’s 4th Armored Division where he eventually earned a bronze star for valor. A practicing physician for 55 years, Temple formally awarded Dr. Sellers his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012. The scholarship is awarded to support veterans who are returning to the College of Liberal Arts to pursue their undergraduate degrees.

You can read more about Dr. Sellers’ remarkable life and his 2012 graduation ceremony here. To make a gift to support the college’s veterans today, click the button below.
