Temple University

Dear ##first name##,

Congratulations on receiving a Fly in 4 grant! As you have seen by now, $4,000 has been posted to your financial aid award letter for the upcoming school year.

You received this grant because you signed up for Fly in 4, Temple's innovative plan to fast-track your future and limit your debt. By committing to graduate in four years, you are taking an important first step toward achieving success in your career and life.

As Temple's president, I want to make sure you're aware of the expectations that come with this grant. The grant will be renewed each year, for a maximum of four years, if you continue to meet the requirements of Fly in 4. Please visit the Fly in 4 website to review your checkpoints, and track your progress on TUportal. We encourage you to check often to make sure you remain eligible and on track.

This grant was provided to help you limit the number of hours you must work for pay each week off campus. Since we are awarding you $4,000 per year, we're expecting you to limit your paid off-campus, non-internship employment to no more than 15 hours each week.

Research has shown working more than 15 hours will hurt your GPA. It also prevents you from taking the required number of credits you need each semester to graduate on time.

It is important to limit your work hours during the school year so you can get the best education possible and graduate with the least debt. If you do need to find a part-time job, a good place to start your search is with a student job at Temple.

If you meet the expectations laid out for Fly in 4, Temple will do everything it can to make sure you graduate on time and get started on your next step toward a rewarding and successful career. If you have any questions, please reach out to your academic advisor.

I wish you the best for a great start to your semester and a wonderful four-year experience at Temple.

Sincerely,
Neil D. Theobald
