Kevin J. Ruth, FOX ’82 knows a little something about time management. As the first member of his family to go to college, Ruth worked 40 to 60 hours a week to pay his way through school while taking a full slate of classes at Temple University Ambler.
Today Ruth, Senior Vice President of Health Advancement for UnitedHealthcare Medicare & Retirement, and his wife Georgette have established an endowed $100,000 scholarship that will provide support for students of all majors attending Temple University Ambler for years to come.
The first award will be presented during Ambler’s Academic Scholarship and Awards Ceremony in April 2015.

Certified VITA volunteers |

2,800,000. To anyone, that’s a lot of zeroes. For the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at Temple University Ambler, it’s also the total amount in federal and state tax refunds claimed for their clients since it began on campus eight years ago.
Certified volunteers—most of whom are Temple students—have processed about 1,929 returns overall and will go well past 2,000 this year.
VITA will be offered on Saturdays from 1–5 p.m. in the Ambler Campus Learning Center from February 7 through April 11, 2015. Volunteer training and certification will take place on Saturdays, January 17, 24 and 31. |

Continuing education course in session |

Students will no longer have to search through dozens of different websites to find a personal enrichment or licensure program they are interested in at Temple.
Temple has begun the first phase of a three-year project to provide a centralized “one-stop-shopping” registration and payment system for all of Temple’s continuing education and noncredit programs called DestinyOne.
Each year, thousands of participants sign up for hundreds of noncredit and continuing education opportunities offered by Temple through more than 100 different programs. What Self Service Banner is for credit courses at Temple, DestinyOne will be for non-credit and continuing education programs. |
