Subject: |
Ebola outbreak and university-sponsored travel |
|
Dear Temple community,
In response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, this is a reminder that as a matter of practice, Temple University does not typically support travel to countries or regions where a U.S. Department of State travel warning is in effect. This includes all travel supported by university funds, regardless of their source. Specifically, faculty, staff and students may not travel to Guinea, Liberia or Sierra Leone on education-related business of any kind until further notice.
Everyone is advised to exercise caution and to follow the recommendations of the Department of State and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) when considering whether to travel abroad. We also encourage employees to keep their supervisors informed of travel plans.
The CDC has posted Warning Level 3 travel notices “recommending that people avoid non-essential travel to Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone at this time” and advising that “education-related travel to these countries be postponed until further notice.”
Faculty and staff who have questions or concerns should contact Temple’s Office of Risk Management and Insurance at 215-204-8523. Students’ inquiries should be directed to Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses at
215-204-0720.
Sincerely,
Hai-Lung Dai
