“I think it’s interesting that when I graduated with a BSW in 1983 from the School of Social Administration, I had no idea I would wind up in public health. And what’s more interesting is that social work is now part of Temple’s College of Public Health!”
Dennis Fleming, SSW ’83, is serving as the program manager of the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center (PAETC) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The PAETC provides education, training and capacity-building assistance to clinicians and other healthcare team staff from clinics, hospitals and other healthcare settings providing care and treatment to persons living with HIV/AIDS in California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii. Some of its programs include a telehealth project for new providers, a U.S.–Mexico border initiative, practice transformation for clinics, an interprofessional education project with three Los Angeles universities and a minority AIDS initiative project. The program is funded through a grant from the Health Resources Services Administration’s Ryan White Part F. Dennis manages 11 subcontractors throughout the four-state area (mostly located in prominent medical schools) to ensure quality and effective training, technical assistance and education.
We love hearing about what our alumni are up to. Send an update to CPH_alumnirelations@temple.edu and you might be featured in our next update!
