Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture wins major awards at the 2015 Philadelphia Flower Show
Question: If three scores is a hat trick, what's five? Answer: Star Power, Temple Ambler's Philadelphia Flower Show exhibit! Star Power: Casts of Light that Stir and Spellbind received five major awards at the Flower Show. Awards included a Silver Medal by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, the American Horticultural Society Environmental Award, the Alfred M. Campbell Memorial Trophy, a Special Achievement Award of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania, and a PHS Special Achievement Award.
 
Center for Sustainable Communities to lead residents in workshops to design public spaces
Philadelphia residents know their neighborhoods best; they have a clear vision of what their communities need. In March and April, the Center for Sustainable Communities at Temple University will help residents envision the future of three locations in the Delaware Direct and Tookany/Takony-Frankford watersheds during a series of public design workshops. The workshops will focus on potential green stormwater infrastructure projects and recreational uses for these underutilized sites.
 
Temple University Ambler gets ready for EarthFest 2015
How would you like to become part of what has become one of the largest celebrations of Earth Day on the East Coast? EarthFest 2015, Temple University Ambler’s annual outdoor educational festival celebrating Earth Day, will be held on Friday, April 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. With about 7,000 visitors and more than 75 exhibits expected to participate in EarthFest, it takes a veritable army of volunteers. Dedicated alumni, students, faculty and staff are needed to help visitors get the most out of their day at EarthFest!

Lecture: Robert D. Bullard, the Father of Environmental Justice

Join Dr. Robert D. Bullard, the "father of environmental justice," as he presents "Building Justice and Sustainable Communities for All: Why Equity Matters" in Walk Auditorium. The lecture will be simulcast at the Ambler Campus Learning Center.

Dr. Bullard, author of 18 books that address sustainable development, environmental racism, urban land use, climate justice, smart growth and regional equity, believes that reducing environmental disparities should be a national priority. School of Environmental Design Alumni, you can come home again! You are invited to the School of Environmental Design (SED) Alumni Association’s June Homecoming and Plant Auction on Sunday, June 7. SED alumni dating back to the Pennsylvania School of Horticulture for Women will be returning to campus for special reunions, tours of the gardens, an annual Plan Auction and more!
