2015 Ambler Campus Graduates Heading to Their “Next Stop”
What does the future hold for our exemplary graduating students? For one, it’s staying in higher education and helping guide the next generation of leaders. For another, it’s honing her craft at both the Morris Arboretum and the Wyck Rose Garden. For a third, it’s launching a career in urban design. To honor our graduating class, Temple University Ambler profiles just a few of the shining examples of the Class of 2015. Meet the graduates.
Aquaponics Research Lab
 
Ambler Campus Offers Innovative Aquaponics Course for All Majors
Meet Joe, a two-pound, 2-year-old tilapia, one of 15 currently living in the Ambler Campus Aquaponics Research Lab. Ambler’s lab—recently fully accredited—focuses entirely on research, exploring different types of aquaponics setups and finding the best balance between fish, plants and nutrients. In the fall, Temple University Ambler will host a three-credit course in aquaponics open to all majors. A second noncredit Introduction to Aquaponics will also be offered on campus in June. EarthFest 2015 Welcomes 6,000 Visitors
The world needs solutions for major challenges like energy, climate change, water, food, housing and health. Each year, Temple University Ambler EarthFest plants a seed in thousands of students, teachers and parents to think about how they can positively affect the world today and tomorrow. More than 6,000 visitors spent a sunny and cool spring day celebrating the Earth with 75 exhibitors ranging from the Elmwood Park Zoo and the Franklin Institute to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and FEMA. School of Environmental Design June Homecoming: Sunday June 7
School of Environmental Design (SED) alumni are invited to the SED Alumni Association June Homecoming and Plant Auction, Sunday, June 7, in the Woman’s National Farm and Garden Association Visitors Center. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., light refreshments are at noon, and the plant auction is at 3 p.m. Sandi Thompson, manager of library services and the Ambler library, will speak about the Temple University Ambler archives. Registration is $10 per person. Donations supporting the Ambler Arboretum are welcome. For more information, contact Mary Anne Fry at gdndusty@aol.com.

Recognizing Academic Achievement
It’s easy to see how talented our students are in the work that they produce, and we want to recognize that talent whenever possible. A special thank you to the SED and Ambler Campus alumni who support the academic scholarships and awards given annually to students at the Ambler Campus. This year, students, from freshmen to graduate students, in majors as diverse as history, criminal justice, horticulture and community development received scholarships and awards totaling nearly $107,000!
