Preventing Sexual Violence and Alcohol and Drug Abuse |
|
As we begin a new school year, I’d like to remind you about Temple’s expectations and resources in two critical areas:
- preventing sexual violence; and
-
preventing alcohol and drug abuse.
When it comes to alcohol abuse and sexual violence, there are two important university policies to be aware of:
Temple’s policy on preventing sexual violence includes a description of our education and prevention efforts, as well as procedures for reporting complaints of sexual assault, domestic or dating violence, or stalking, and victim support, both at Temple and in the Philadelphia community. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the resources available to victims and the educational programs designed for our community.
Additionally, Temple recently launched a Sexual Misconduct Resources website to centralize information on reporting, support services and policies.
The university's policy on drug and alcohol use provides comprehensive information regarding
-
the health risks associated with drug use;
-
criminal and university penalties for illegal drug and alcohol use;
-
resources for those struggling with abuse or addiction; and
-
other important information.
No student seeking medical treatment for the effects of drug or alcohol use will be subject to university discipline for violations pertaining to drug or alcohol use that are outlined in the Student Conduct Code. Please review the code for more information on the university’s medical amnesty policy.
The Wellness Resource Center and Tuttleman Counseling Services can provide you with information about, and support for, these and other health-related issues.
Your health, wellness and safety are important to us. Take the time to familiarize and empower yourself with this information.
I wish you a safe, productive and enjoyable academic year. |
