To the Temple community:

Those of you who have followed the events surrounding the Amtrak derailment last week know what a tragedy it was. We at Temple send our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost loved ones in the crash and wish a quick recovery to the injured.

At the same time, I believe we can all be extremely proud of the role the Temple community played in helping the victims of this disaster. The dedication of everyone was clear, from the first responders (including student EMTs) who went to the scene on Tuesday night to the medical teams at Temple University Hospital and Temple University Hospital—Episcopal Campus. The teamwork demonstrated across the board is a tribute to your commitment and compassion.

When the eyes of the nation were turned to Philadelphia, Temple showed its exceptional professionalism and deepest care. I could not be more proud of you all.

I also take enormous comfort in knowing that the Temple community is prepared to come together and make a vital difference when we are called to action.

To everyone who played a role in this tragic event, please accept my heartfelt thanks.

Sincerely,
Neil D. Theobald
