Dear Temple community,
This week we’re coming together to celebrate Homecoming and share our soaring Temple pride.
Homecoming is as much about you—the heart of Temple University—as it is about our 300,000 amazing alumni. You make us what we are right now: unstoppable. I hope you’re able to take part in as many events as possible—bring your family and friends!
Here are a few highlights:
- We have great programming for students, from An Evening With Jalen Rose on Tuesday at 8 p.m. to Friday’s field hockey game against UConn at 2 p.m. and the Golf Cart Parade and Pep Rally at 2:30.
-
On Thursday, Oct. 8, I will deliver the second annual State of the University address at 1 p.m. in Mitten Hall’s Great Court. All faculty and staff are invited to this 30-minute overview of where I believe we’ve been over the past three years and where Temple is going in the future.
-
Arts Friday begins with Art Market at Tyler from 12 to 8 p.m.—more than 30 vendors will be showing and selling their handmade work. Kunal Nayyar, TFMA ’05, who plays Raj on The Big Bang Theory, will speak in Tomlinson Theater at 1 p.m. From 5 to 7 p.m., stop by Crafts and Drafts at the Art Market, a new Homecoming tradition featuring Victory Beer. And you can cap off your evening with the third annual Boyer Mosaic Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Temple Performing Arts Center.
-
It wouldn't be Homecoming without Football Saturday. This year’s Tailgate Village will open at 8:30 a.m. in Lincoln Financial Field’s Lot K and feature more than 75 tents representing schools, colleges and organizations from across the university. There also will be a replica of Beury Beach, bounce houses, a DJ, food trucks and more. Plan to be in your seats for a noon kickoff as Temple hosts conference rival Tulane University. If you can't make it to the Linc, check out Temple Theaters' presentation of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes at 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Sheona and I saw the dress rehearsal last week and the show—particularly the dancing—is simply fabulous.

Thank you for all you do for Temple. I hope to see you at Homecoming 2015. Go, Owls!
Sincerely,
Neil D. Theobald
