Assistant Professor Andrew Wit’s work, “Craft Driven Robotic Composites,” investigates the intersection of weaving as a craft and as a numerically controlled robotic winding procedure through a series of hand-crafted and robotically fabricated Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) installations. This article examines novel processes of CFRP winding through the lens of future projects centered around craft driven, large-scale architectural applications. Professor Wit worked closely with the Tyler ceramics faculty to fire the large-scale pieces.
