You know the Temple way. Challenge us and we’re going to achieve! And Temple Trustee H.F.
“Gerry” Lenfest issued a great one – if 3,000 alumni and student donors made gifts in December,
he’d give $200,000 for Temple’s people, programs and places. What did Temple alumni and
students do? Crushed it! Gerry was so inspired by the momentum, he expanded that challenge
and offered to give an additional $100,000 for Temple if an additional 1,000 donors gave.
Results are in: 3,826 alumni and students participated in the Lenfest Challenge! So while we
missed that 4,000 donor goal, Temple Owls came together to do something remarkable for
Temple – give back, inspire their fellow Owls and create a community of philanthropy! This
energy, it moved Gerry too – he’s committing that additional $100,000 for Temple.
We’re also happy to announce the winners of the bonus challenges – the School of Media and
Communication and the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management saw the largest
participation increase of donors giving back. And now those programs have an additional
$25,000 each!
Many thanks to all who gave, all who inspired and all who participated – together, you helped
Temple thrive and now Temple’s people, programs and places have Gerry’s $300,000 fueling our
momentum!
