Established in 2007, the TemPALS program encourages Temple University alumni to serve as “pals” to international students who are new to Temple and the U.S.

As a TemPAL, you are asked to spend time with your matched student over a semester-long period, September – December or January – May, meeting in person approximately 3 times per semester. Suggested activities include hosting a new international student for a homemade dinner in September, joining him or her at the Temple Homecoming tailgate party/football game and in Temple’s Global Day of Service volunteer activities, inviting the students for Thanksgiving dinner, and/or simply creating your own cultural outing.

The Temple University Office of Alumni Relations will help your relationship along with an initial Meet and Greet and a couple of off-campus activities. The International Student Affairs Office coordinates international student-alumni matches.

Note: New participants in the TemPALS program must attend one of two short, informative orientation sessions on Thursday, August 25 (2 p.m. or 6 p.m., Main Campus). If you have previously served as a TemPAL, you do not need to attend an orientation.
