Student Spotlight: Maura Edwards

CLA ’18, Philosophy and Political Science Double Major

Maura Edwards with other Honors students

About a month ago I got back to Philly from my second service trip to Kentucky, and I’m having some pretty serious Appalachia withdrawal. Temple Honors Appalachia is an Honors org led by Seth, one of our advisors, as well as student and adult site leaders. THA is a weeklong Habitat for Humanity-ish project when we work with local housing organizations and contractors to build, repair, and rehabilitate homes. We work with not for the people living in the region in a way that allows us to better understand their stories and struggles. Our goals are to work hard, build meaningful and conscious relationships with people, and live simply.

We Need You!

Do you want to hang out in the Honors Lounge like you did in the days of yore? We are looking for a few good folks to join the Honors Alumni Council! The council meets a few times a year, usually quarterly, and helps plan upcoming Honors alumni events, create content for the newsletters and eat cheese. If you have been looking for ways to give back, we would love to have you! Submit your application here.
