2016 Ambler Campus Graduates Head to Their “Next Stop”
Next Stop
What does the future hold for our exemplary new graduates? For one, it’s continuing their dedication to helping others by joining the Temple University Municipal Police Academy. For another, you’ll find them at the Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College teaching the next generation of horticulturists. Or it may be a career in transportation planning. To honor our graduating class, Temple University Ambler profiles just a few of the shining examples of the Class of 2016.
EarthFest 2016 Welcomes 6,500
Next Stop
The world needs solutions for major challenges like energy, climate change, water, food, housing and health. Each year, Temple University Ambler EarthFest plants a seed with thousands of students, teachers and parents to think about how they can positively impact the world today and tomorrow. A sunny spring day helped welcome 6,500 visitors for a day of celebrating the Earth with more than 90 exhibitors ranging from the Elmwood Park Zoo and the Franklin Institute to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency. EarthFest 2016 also included a record 32 exhibits from area high school and middle school students!
Teacher Workshop Spotlights Outdoor Classroom Design
Next Stop
Classrooms don’t need to have four walls to be effective. Outdoor classrooms offer teachers a venue to deepen relationships with nature by using it as a curriculum tool. Teachers are invited to get hands-on in developing outdoor classrooms for their students at Temple University Ambler this summer. The Office of Non-Credit and Continuing Education will be offering a one-week workshop, Outdoor Classroom Design and Use: Integrating the Environment Into the K-12 Classroom, July 25-July 29.

Recognizing Academic Achievement
It’s easy to see how talented our students are in the work that they produce and we certainly want to recognize that talent whenever possible. A special thank you to the Ambler Campus and Division of Architecture and Environmental Design alumni who support the academic scholarships and awards given annually to students. This year, students at varying points in their studies and in majors as diverse as history, criminal justice, horticulture and community development received scholarships and awards totaling more than $90,000!
Help Our Students Make an Impact
You can make a difference for students enrolled in our academic programs at Temple University Ambler with a charitable gift. Your gift can have an immediate effect if directed to support improvement projects within the Ambler Arboretum—a living laboratory for students at Ambler—or designated to the Landscape Architecture Junior Studio’s annual Philadelphia Flower Show exhibit. Consider making a legacy gift to establish a named scholarship, which will ensure that students will benefit from your generosity for years to come.
