The Temple University Symphony Orchestra returns to Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center on April 8 at 8:00PM to perform an exciting program featuring two premieres. Daniel Schnyder’s UNITED, Symphony for Orchestra and Big Band will receive its New York Premiere and features the TUSO and Temple’s Big Band sharing the stage. The piece was commissioned by Temple’s Boyer College of Music and Dance. Also commissioned by the College is a new arrangement by Grammy winning composer/arranger, Bill Cunliffe, of Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, receiving its world premiere. The program also includes Gershwin’s Rhapsody No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra with William Wolfram as soloist and Blacher’s Orchestral Variations on a Theme by Paganini. This is the first time TUSO Music Director, Andreas Delfs, conducts the TUSO at Lincoln Center after his 2015 appointment. Dr. Steven Kreinberg, a member of Boyer’s Music History faculty, will present a brief overview of the program during the pre-concert reception.
