For more than 50 years, Temple University and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have been great partners. Through the state’s support, we've been able to offer in-state students a tuition discount, and underwrite the valuable teaching and research that is a hallmark of our university. That partnership helps attract and retain great Pennsylvania residents.

In recent years, the effort to retain Temple’s funding from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania becomes a little longer and a little more difficult. This year has been no exception. The legislation providing Temple with its appropriation—which should have been passed by June 30—is stalled in Pennsylvania’s House of Representatives. As you know, this vital funding helps keep Temple accessible and affordable for thousands of our students.

As a Temple student, faculty/staff member or alumni, you can strengthen Temple’s voice in Harrisburg by becoming a member of TALON – the Temple Advocates Legislative Outreach Network – a volunteer network of Temple students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends who show their support for the university on legislative issues.

As a member of TALON you will:
  • Be updated periodically on legislative issues impacting Temple and higher education.
  • Have the opportunity to influence policymakers.
  • Receive Action Alerts asking you to communicate important messages such as Temple’s impact locally, regionally or nationally to your elected officials.
  • Show your Temple pride and make a difference in the lives of Temple’s students.

Be sure to check the “Send me TALON emails” box at the top.

I also invite you to share this email with family, friends and others who care about Temple’s future. If they have not done so, encourage them to join TALON. Together, our voices can and will help to make a difference for our university.

Thank you!
