Fall break operations and services.
Temple University

Fall break and the Thanksgiving holiday are approaching. This message includes important information about university operations.

During fall break from Monday, Nov. 20, through Wednesday, Nov. 22, no undergraduate classes will be held, but the university will function as normal.

Classes at some professional schools, including the Beasley School of Law, the School of Podiatric Medicine, and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine, will still be in session during this time. Students from professional schools should refer to their school or college academic calendars for more specific scheduling information.

The Thanksgiving holiday will be observed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24.

Essential personnel should check with their supervisors to coordinate schedules throughout the break.

A limited number of services and offices will be open during the break.

  • The Liacouras Center will be open for normal business hours except on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23.

  • Paley Library on Main Campus will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23, but will reopen on Friday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Though Paley is open Nov. 24, most services and operations will be unavailable. Temple Libraries will return to regular operating hours on Saturday, Nov. 25; Paley Library is open Saturday, Nov. 25, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 26, from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. Check the Libraries website for schedules at specific locations.

  • The TECH Center will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, and reopen at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26.

  • Temple University Center City will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, and resume normal business hours Monday, Nov. 27.

  • Faculty and staff who wish to gain access to any building on Ambler Campus must report to the campus police station in Bright Hall and present their OWLcard. Normal operations will resume Monday, Nov. 27.

  • Temple Harrisburg will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, and resume normal business hours Monday, Nov. 27.

  • Temple Administrative Services Building (TASB) will be open during the holiday. If you wish to access the building, you will need to check in with security at the front desk.

  • The School of Podiatric Medicine will close at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, and resume normal business hours Monday, Nov. 27.


Health Sciences Center (HSC)

  • The Medical Education and Research Building (MERB) and Kresge Science Hall (including Kresge West) are open around the clock. Access requires use of the LobbyGuard registration system.

  • The Medical Research Building is only accessible via Kresge.

  • The following buildings are closed but accessible via card swipe. Entry at all locations must be reported to Campus Safety Services.

    Kornberg School of Dentistry
    Medical Office Building
    Old Dental School

  • Ambulatory Care, Boyer Pavilion, Jones Hall, the Outpatient Building and Parkinson Pavilion are open around the clock.


If you wish to access any other HSC building that isn’t accessible by card swipe, report to the Temple Police station at Parkinson Pavilion (Broad and Tioga streets). If you have permission to access any HSC building via the card-swipe access system and wish to do so, alert Campus Safety Services at 1-1234.

Ensure your safety and the safety of others by not propping open doors, even for a moment.


Transportation services

  • Shuttles between Ambler and Main campuses will cease with the last regularly scheduled trip to Ambler Campus on Friday, Nov. 17. Operations will resume Monday, Nov. 27.

  • Shuttles to and from the SEPTA train station in Ambler will operate on a normal schedule through Friday, Nov. 17. Regular operating hours will resume Monday, Nov. 27.

  • Service from Main Campus to TASB will end at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22. Service from TASB to Main Campus will end at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22. Service in both directions will resume Monday, Nov. 27.

  • Flight shuttle service will end at 3 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18. Service will return to normal at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26.

  • If you need a walking security escort in the evening, call 8-WALK (8-9255 from a campus phone) or 215-777-9255.



Dining services

  • The J&H and Morgan Hall Dining Centers will close at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, and reopen at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 26. Visit the Dining Services website for a full schedule of operations during fall break.


Parking

  • The Tyler and Temple Towers lots will be open for parkers assigned to those facilities.

  • The Liacouras Garage is open 24/7 for visitors, monthly/semester and part-time parkers.

  • Montgomery Garage will be open for visitors, monthly/semester and part-time parkers.

  • Metered parking for visitors is available 24/7 at the Cecil B. Moore and the Tuttleman lots.


Also, do your part for energy conservation.

  • Turn off lights and power strips, and unplug electrical equipment that will not be in use.

  • If applicable, turn heat down to 60 degrees.

  • For safety and energy efficiency, be sure windows are CLOSED and LOCKED when you leave, regardless of the temperature outside. A window left open even slightly can lead to frozen and broken pipes.

  • Draw blinds and close curtains.
