To the Temple community:
I wanted to make you aware of some very important changes that are being implemented immediately to ensure the safety and welfare of our students and improve quality-of-life issues in the neighborhoods around Temple.
As private developers have increased the number of apartments available to students in the neighborhoods around Main Campus, we have seen a disturbing rise in disrespectful and disruptive behavior by a relatively small number of students. This type of behavior is unsafe and unacceptable. Temple University has a responsibility to take a strong stand.
I especially want to bring your attention to the changes being made when it comes to alcohol-related fines, possible suspensions or expulsions, and the new initiatives that will hold those who host parties to a higher standard.
I want to thank everyone who is involved in these important efforts. It is my hope that enhanced monitoring, discipline and education efforts will make a noticeable impact on student behavior and promote a safer environment for the entire community. |
