Dear Temple community:
Today, Gov. Tom Wolf announced he would let the 2015–16 budget—and the non-preferred appropriations for Temple and the other state-related schools—become law on Sunday without his signature. This is great news.
Temple will now receive its commonwealth appropriation of $147 million, which is a five percent increase over 2014–15 levels. Our appropriation will generate an additional $26 million for the Temple Health enterprise and give us access to federal dollars for health care in North Philadelphia. The governor’s decision also means we will not have to take drastic measures to balance our budget.
I want to thank everyone in the Temple community. Your efforts generated more than 5,000 emails and hundreds of phone calls to legislators. You let your voices be heard in Harrisburg and made a difference.
I'm deeply grateful for your support. |
