If you have always wanted to form a rock band, or if you are a music teacher who wants to bring new experiences to students, this workshop is for you. It will cover historical perspectives of the development of rock music, equipment requirements, performance, style, group construction, communication and interaction, rehearsing, promotion, involving young people, learning without musical reading ability, singing and fronting a band, and selecting and deconstructing appropriate material.

Pickin’ & Grinnin’: Selecting & Rehearsing Quality Band Literature

Bring your batons and instruments as we review quality scores for school bands
of all levels. We will review some old chestnuts and some on which the ink is still
wet! You will learn effective rehearsal techniques and work with the instructor
leading the ensemble through a number of pieces that could work for you and your students.
