Tyler School of Art

Dear art history graduate,

I have some exciting news to share with you.

Several years ago, the Art History Department's PhD program was included for the first time among the evaluation process by Academic Analytics. Academic Analytics ranks the quality of PhD programs by measuring the scholarly productivity of faculty using their book and journal publications, journal article citations, federally funded research grants and honorific awards.

In Academic Analytics' 2006-07 rankings, we were ranked highly among Temple's PhD programs and others throughout the nation. Our doctoral program was ranked fourth among Temple's more than 50 PhD programs, and was ranked 11th out of the nation's 57 art history doctoral programs.

The latest rankings, for 2007-08, have just come out and they are a testament to the dedication, hard work and commitment of this highly productive department.

2007-08 Academic Analytics Rankings

Art history was ranked first at Temple among the university's more than 50 PhD programs.

Tyler's art history program was ranked second out of the 62 art history doctoral programs in the U.S. This national ranking is the highest of any PhD program at Temple.

We hope you will join us in celebrating this wonderful achievement, and I encourage you to stay connected to the department by visiting our web site, which includes contact information, details about upcoming lectures and more!

Best,
Gerald Silk
