The Department of Accounting in the Fox School of Business is pleased to announce the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program for Fall 2011. The Fox School MAcc was developed in response to the change in legislation regarding the requirements for an individual to become a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania.

Effective Jan. 1, 2012, candidates seeking the CPA designation must complete 150 hours of college education (undergraduate or graduate courses, or a combination of both), including 36 hours in accounting and auditing, business law, finance or tax subjects acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountancy.

Fox School accounting majors can meet the new Pennsylvania requirements by completing a bachelor’s degree, e.g. the current accounting major in the Fox School’s BBA, and the Fox School’s MAcc.

Students enrolled in the Fox School’s undergraduate accounting program will be eligible to apply for the MAcc after completing 90 semester-hour credits or at the completion of their junior year.

The first class to enter the MAcc program will do so in fall 2011. Most of the students who will continue on to earn this degree will initially be undergraduate Fox School accounting majors. Fox School undergraduate non-accounting majors and all other students with a bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply to the MAcc program.
