Campus is quiet now, after an intense week or two of cramming before finals, but we’re getting ready for an exciting spring semester. Your CLA Alumni Association has plenty in store for this spring, including our annual men’s basketball event as well as a March tour of the Yards Brewery. Congratulations to CLA’s Four Fulbright Scholars

Four CLA alumni have won prestigious fellowships from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program to study, conduct research or teach English abroad in 2011-12. This year’s cohort of six total Temple student Fulbright grantees is the second largest in the university’s history.

Sociology helps explain the allure of intimacy in ballroom dancing

Sociology professor Julia Ericksen understands why the latest season finale of “Dancing with the Stars” drew nearly 20 million viewers. "In the modern world, many people don't always have time to develop relationships and make long-term commitments, and the thing about dancing is you get all the warmth and intimacy and connection without having to make the commitment," Ericksen said.
