Digital Cultures at Temple University Libraries this fall | |||||
Please join us this fall for the Libraries' Beyond the Page public programming series. This year, our series of Digital Cultures will feature experts and thinkers across an expanse of digital topics.
Wired! Approaches to Digital Scholarship Tuesday, October 21, 2:30 p.m. Through a collaborative, laboratory approach, members of Duke University's Wired! apply visualization technologies to the study of material culture, art, architecture and urban history. In the process, they ask new questions, expand upon emerging lines of inquiry and transform scholarship. Join Wired! members and Duke professors Victoria Szabo and Kristin Lanzoni to discuss recent projects and digital scholarship's impact on teaching, research and the broader public. Support for this program is provided by the Department of Art History, the Department of Graphic Arts and Design and the Photography Program, and the Department of Architecture. Public programs are held at Paley Library, 1210 Polett Walk, on Temple's Main Campus, unless otherwise specified. In addition to our curated, thematic programs, our series encompasses a number of discussions designed to engage the outstanding work of our faculty, highlight the strengths of our library and foster conversations with a range of partner organizations. Upcoming programs include the following: Inside the Art: A Conversation With Rimini Protokoll Monday, September 15, 5:00 p.m. Daniel Wetzel and Helgard Haug of the German artists' collective, Rimini Protokoll, discuss the process behind their FringeArts presentation, 100% Philadelphia, an interactive theater work featuring a cast of 100 Philadelphia citizen-artists (nonprofessional actors), who will be cast based on Philadelphia's 2010 U.S. census data. This program is moderated by Krisin Gjesdal, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Temple. John Coltrane—Offering: Live at Temple University Tuesday, September 23, 5:30 p.m. On the anniversary of John Coltrane's birthday, Impulse!/Resonance Records will release a recording of the iconic musician's rare 1966 performance at Temple University.
